This week fromaparrottsnest – my apologies. I know it’s been a few weeks since I last wrote y’all. I thought I had things on their way to fixed, but my new power wheelchair, Matilda and I, are still having trouble becoming friends. Plus, the fall chilly temps and rain have started to settle in here in Southern California, so my nerves have been giving me intermittent fits of irritation and pain and I’ve been feeling extra tired and not up to doing all that much except watching this year’s baseball playoffs along with old vintage episodes of Magnum P.I. and commenting on Reddit and Instagram posts. Yay Tom Selleck! I like the character of Higgins and the dogs too. BTW, did you know that the character of Thomas Magnum often wore a Detroit Tigers baseball cap? And, did you know that Tom Selleck is a Detroit Tigers baseball fan in real life? AND, Tom Selleck also did a movie called Mr. Baseball, which I’d like to find and watch. Anyway, I’m curious if the Arizona Diamondbacks will win this year’s World Series – and I heard that Bob Melvin will be working for the Giants next season. It’ll be neat to see how that goes, and see what happens with the San Diego Padres next season and the Oakland A’s making the move to Vegas.
In Other News…
It was Holy Moly Matrimony Celebration Day #11 for Paul and I. We celebrated by taking an expensive big girl private van ride out to the wheelchair repair shop In Riverside to get Matilda fixed. Although we were able to get her seat realigned and configured such that I’m able to sit much more comfortably without a huge draft on my backside now, getting the programming right on her joystick has been another matter. The wheelchair repair shop is making arrangements to send a rep from Invacare out to see what can be done to remedy the issues I’m having with Matilda’s programming as soon as it’s possible. I’m looking forward to experiencing the beauty of easily navigating through doorways, turning quickly on a dime and maneuvering under the kitchen and bathroom sinks with ease with my new BFF – at least for the next five to ten years.
Lastly…
If you’re into hip new places to hang out, you might appreciate this YouTube video I found about food halls. I like them because they’re relatively easy to fashion community spaces that, by their nature, encourage fellowship. AND, they’re a great way to facilitate and support the development of smaller businesses, and they appeal to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
